Peep Toe Shoes Have Come A Long Way!

With the radical changes in the role of women during World War II, hem lines rose, exposing more of a woman's leg. Shoes replaced the more customary boots. Footwear became much more a fashion item.

Women started being more conscious about appearance and wardrobe choices. Bright colors with intricate patterns became a staple in their daily wardrobe. Shoes were made of more versatile materials, such as light leather, canvas, suede, and satin.

Just as legs were seeing more of the light of day, so, too, were feet. Designers came out with the peep toe style, usually made with cut outs in the front of the shoe and with either D'Orsey or open heel. They were made with high heels of two to four inches, over platforms that sometimes reached 1" height in the front.

Nowadays this style is one of the favorites among brides. There are several designers making them with superior style and allure for the big day. They include Valentine by Grazia; Flora by Filippa Luxe; and one more designer that has made them very popular, French designer Christian Louboutin, with very high heels of 12cm/6 inches.
